History

The Cougar Booster Club was incorporated on November 26, 1982.

Al Bohonus, a catalyst of the Club and long-time Athletic Director at Mount Royal College was the first to sign the Club by-laws. His vision was to create a $1 million dollar endowment for Cougar Athletics in order to support the student-athletes of Mount Royal. This goal was reached in 1998, but unfortunately not before Al passed away in the spring of 1995.

Al Bohonus' legacy continues to live on through the Cougar Endowment Fund and the various activities of the Club. The student-athletes themselves have made significant contributions, as thousands of individuals have worked bingos and casinos (fundraisers and events) in order to build a healthy financial picture for Cougar Athletics. Currently there is over $1.3 million in the Cougar Endowment Fund and the Cougar Booster Club continues to raise funds and donate to Cougar Athletics on an annual basis. These dollars go mainly towards supporting student-athlete scholarships, travel, and enhancing the student-athlete experience. As was the case in the first twenty-five years, it will take the efforts of current student-athletes and alumni to continue the support and success of the Club. The bonus is, we can all contribute while having a great time connecting and reconnecting with everyone who has been a part of the incredible tradition of Cougar Athletics.
